Jammu Floods Aftermath: PDD restores over 75% electricity

Srinagar, Aug 28 (KNO): The Power Development Department (PDD) Thursday said that it has restored over 75 percent electricity in the affected areas of Jammu following the floods and landslides triggered by record-breaking heavy rains in the region. The department however said that there was no damage reported from the Kashmir division. Principal Secretary PDD, H Rajesh Prasad informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the department is working round the clock to restore the electricity in the affected areas. “Till 2Pm, we restored more than 75 percent of electricity in the flood and landslide affected areas of Jammu,” he said. Prasad further said that till late evening, the power will be restored to many other areas. “We are trying our best to restore the electricity in the remaining areas.” The principal secretary further said that there was no damage reported in the Kashmir division. He said, “In Kashmir division, as a precautionary measure, we disconnected electricity in some areas. As of now, I think the electricity has been restored in all areas of the region.” Pertinently, heavy rains and landslides had damaged more than 1,000 feeders in Jammu region. Besides, hundreds of electricity poles were reportedly damaged in the region—(KNO)
